A Special Day and the end of our first vacation…

Published by AmandaF under Family

Today is a very special day for us. Our oldest turns 6 today and it was even the exact day (Friday), he was born on. Here’s his birth story.

Another milestone is that it marks the end of our first “official” vacation. He will be going to First Grade on Tuesday. The week after that son#2 starts preschool two days a week. We did not do much this vacation. It’s pretty hard getting around with three children under 6 and a pregnant mom! But it was not a complete bore either.

We visited the children’s cousin in NJ in July and son#1 spent a week with them. While in NJ, we took them to Point Pleasant Beach. They played in the sand, walked the water’s edge (water was a little chilly though), did the boardwalk and kids ride. They had a blast.

In August, we spent a week in Orlando. We drove back and forth so that was a little tiring and hard on my feet and back but the children had fun.

We also took the kids on a picnic to Sandy Point State Park. Here too they had fun playing in the sand were actually able to play and swim in the water. Even Son#3 went in and was not afraid of the waves.

Something cute and more crochet

Published by AmandaF under Crochet, Kidicisms, Family

Kids can be really cute sometimes, huh? The other day, the kids were having dinner and suddenly A#2 made a startling discovery. His tummy growled.
A#2: Mom, I think there’s a baby in my tummy too!
ME (Astonished, Inwardly Laughing): Why do you say that?
A#2: Didn’t you hear that noise coming from my tummy?!
ME: (Can’t say anything! I am too busy laughing!)

In some crochet news, I am currently working on a Christening Dress for the baby. Here’s the progress. Have a few more rows to go but am waiting on some more yarn I ordered. I hope to add some booties and a baby cap to it.

I am also waiting on some Caron Glimmer Yarn to complete a scarf I started:

While waiting on the yarn, I’ve started working on a baby blanket as well. You can never have too many projects, huh??!!

This and That

Published by AmandaF under Family, Everyday Living

Had a prenatal appointment yesterday. I passed the 1 hour glucose test. I kinda guessed that anyway since they had not called me back. I took my Rhogamm blood test and shot a few weeks ago so I knew I was good there too. The doctor said baby is already head down with the back on my right side and feet near my rib cage. I guess that’s the reason I’ve been having the shortness of breath sometimes when I am standing. Blood Pressure was good 101/63 and wait gain is still under 20 lbs, which mace me happy.

This afternoon I have well checks scheduled for all the children. Alexander is due for his 6 year one as he turns six on the 31st. Anthony is due for his 2 year check as he will turn two on September 9 and Aaron needs a physical for his preschool admission. Thought it best to get them all done in one day. No need for multiple trips to the doctor’s office.

In other news, Anthony used the potty for the first time this morning! He asked for it himself and actually used it this time! Yay! We still have to buy school supplies. School starts September 4. We got Alexander’s teacher assignment but have not had any news on Aaron’s pre-school teacher yet.

Learning something new…

Published by AmandaF under Crochet, About me, Everyday Living

I always been interested but never had the time to learn crochet. My younger sis Sarita has always been very talented and taught herself to crochet. She also knows to sew and do machine embroidery but I seemed to lack that eye for detail or maybe just lacked the patience to learn. Anyways, I decided to learn to crochet recently and decided to start small first. Here are a few projects I’ve completed. Now, I’m working on a Christening dress for the baby. Will post pictures as I complete them.

Our Vacation

We’re back from vacation. Actually we got back from our week long trip last Saturday but I’ve been too tired and busy to get online and post. The trip was fun. The kids enjoyed themselves, especially Alexander who was delighted to be able to go on the Expedition EVEREST ride. He was too short for Kracken in Sea World though. We visited Sea World, The Kennedy Space Center, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We drove down on Saturday (Aug 3rd) and drove back Friday evening. Got here early Saturday morning. The unedited pictures are on Flickr. Maybe I’ll get around to editing them sometime. Here’s a picture of us all taken at the hotel we stayed in.
