Thirteen things about this week
- Dh’s mom is in the US. She’s visiting with her son in NJ until May.
- We spent the weekend in NJ visiting with them.
- The boys had fun playing with their cousin and I think my BIL’s house looked like a hurricane hit it by the time we left!
- Alexander took his valentines in to school on Monday. They were supposed to have the class party on Wednesday afternoon.
- It started sleeting/icy rain on Monday night.
- It finally stopped yesterday morning.
- That has meant late mornings for DH and BIL because early mornings are especially bad.
- Our community road has yet to be cleared of the ice though I hear the main roads are much better.
- There’s been no school Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday because the internal roads are still a mess of ice.
- I guess the ice is going to stick around since the we now have winds and maximum temperatures in the 20s and wind chills around 0 F.
- Alexander’s class valentine party was cancelled as the school was closed but will they give out the valentines anyway on Friday? Let’s see.
- The 100th day of school was also supposed to be Wednesday but now they will celebrate it on Friday.
- Three days of being stuck in a house with three kids. Enough said!

Alexander is doing super in reading and math. He knows most three and four letter words and knows how to sound out if he sight can’t read something. He can add and subtract and count by 2,5 and 10. He can tell time to the half hour and hour. He’s enjoying school a lot but I must say he’s learned about a few things I rather he wouldn’t like bad poetry and video games. His dad is very particular about them not having any right now but his friends in school all have them and they bring them on the bus to play… Naturally he wants video games now too. On Tuesday, he sneaked a cellphone we’re not using right now to school to show off to the kids in class. The teacher told him not to get it out but I think the lure of impressing his friends was too much. I got a call from his teacher saying he’d brought it in and was showing it around and of course everyone wanted to see! I was very tempted to punish him and he was lucky he was not home then and had soccer practice that day. I did talk to him about it when he got home and asked him if he knew what the rules of school were. I then made him write a note to his teacher apologizing and saying he would not do it again.
He also got his first report card this week. He’s doing very well according to the teacher but a little slow. She called it methodical and I do know about it. He is very careful when he writes trying to stay inside the lines and do it well… that slows him down considerably.

Alexander to me, when I explained to him that Dad would not be buying him video games any time soon… ” Mom, I like cool stuff but dad does not like anything cool!”
Alexander to his dad, because he’d put in a jazz CD… “Dad, you’re putting all of us to sleep!”

THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the 6 weird things about you. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments and tell them to read your blog.
Now about the 6 things that are weird/different about me:
- I have not seen a movie full length from start to finish in over 5 years. In fact i have not been to the movie theater at all in the last 5 years and not seen a newly released movie in all that time.
- I save the best for last while eating. The last morsel is what I like best.
- I love calamari. Most people I know can’t stand them.
- I do not watch reality shows. Not Big Brother or Amazing Race or the Bachelor. I will occasionally watch American Idol.
- I love shrimp. I always get the ones with head on. I fry them head on (cut off the pointed tip and de-vein and shell the rest) and eat the whole shrimp (including head).
- I prefer my water without ice.
The following 6 “weird†people have been tagged by me…
