Thursday 13- #29 - Driving Peeves
Visit my Thursday Thirteen banners page- Driving on a road crowded with cars and the car in front of me is driving too slowly while the car at the side of me is keeping pace with me instead of slowing down or speeding up so I can overtake the moron in front of me!
- People who don’t use their turn signal when turning, merging or changing lanes especially in heavy traffic.
- People who keep their turn signal on indefinitely… I always make way for people who turn on their signal light and this irritates me no end!
- People who constantly brake, sometimes even when there’s no one in front of them!
- People driving slowly in the fast lane. They don’t care that the average driver is in this lanes is 20 mph faster than them, they just cruise along oblivious at their own pace!
- Drivers who weave through traffic to gain one or two car lengths. These people will cut off other drivers, change lanes with abandon weaving through traffic with abandon for what? All they achieve is arriving at the next red light 10 seconds before you do.
- Distracted drivers talking on cell phones. They’re so busy chatting on the phone or checking their email or whatever…. they don’t realise their drifting into other lanes!
- Women applying makeup and men shaving! You don’t have a mirror at home? That mirror in you car is to watch the cars behind you… they were not designed for personal grooming!
- People who feel it necessary to vent their road rage on you! This may be through gestures (the finger) or shouting obsenities at you through their open window.
- Motorcyclists and cars who use the shoulder as a road.
- Tailgaters! I am not a slow driver… I am usually more than 10 mph above the speed limit (except in residential and crowded areas) and will change lanes asap when possible so if you’re tailgating me…. you have to be a reckless driver!
- Drivers who sit in the right turn only lane at the red light and don’t turn right even though they have an open road!
- Bad mergers…. this goes out to those that don’t merge in properly…they don’t wait their turn… they want to cut in front of you even though you already allowed a couple of cars in and to those that think allowing a car to merge in front of them is going to lead to catastrophe!
When someone tailgates me, I slow down. Har har har!
In spite of that rude behavior by me, I haven’t seen road rage in a long time. Where I live there doesn’t seem to be much antagonistic behavior on the streets.

Great list! I am in total agreement with you on all of them, although I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone who truly had “road rage.” Some people definitely shouldn’t be allowed to drive.

Good TT this week. We don’t have any traffic here but all those things reminded me of what it was like when I drove out East.

I agree with you on all of those. I also slow down when someone is tailgating me. Tailgaters drive me batty. I am guilty of talking on the phone when I drive, I need to work on that.

As someone who has to spend over an hour and a half a day in traffic, I could easily make this into a Thursday 30 list! My boyfriend is a #6 (compulsive lane switcher) and it drives me nuts!
I’m another one that slows down when someone’s tailgating me - and it drives my husband crazy!

Great list! I share all of these with you. I also can’t stand people who have no idea who has the right of way at intersections. Grrr!

I think you and my hubby were separated at birth. You share so many common driving peeves I can hear his voice ranting while I’m reading your words.
I am not someone you would want to drive around but I am very safe. I have fun though…maybe too much
hey sis!!! i hate to be the preacher… but atleast you get to drive… and i’m sure it’s much better than here…
