Worst Holiday Songs according to me!
Maybe I don’t really listen to the words of the old Christmas songs… I grew up listening to them and somehow they just sound Christmas-like. The sounds of Christmas, sort of. And the carols are always beautful - Hark the Hearald Angels Sing, Gloria, Away in the Manger… They are the real meaning of Christmas. I guess they don’t make for politically correct music to play on radio. That’s why you don’t hear them. Who wants to hear what Christmas is really about, right? But I do love listening to “Holiday Music” anyway and I will usually try to catch or rather descipher the words to them, just because I enjoy it so much…. Most of it is fun, but a few a pretty bad to me. The worst three according to me are
Christmas Shoes by NewSong
I don’t like depressing music usually but it’s doubly so for Christmas music… especially when a song is so blatant like this is. Poverty AND death… all in one little song! A true exploitation of the season!
Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt/Madonna
A little too materliastic for me… Is she asking for an engagement ring from Santa? The mental images flashing by from that are nauseating! And the sexy voice used to sing that song is a little too much for a Christmas Song! Almost like they think Santa Claus is one jolly sugar daddy!
Jingle Bells Boogie by Jingle Dogs
Who really wants to listen to dogs barking a Christmas song? I mean even if you are a dog lover… what’s next? Cats meowing? Birds chirping? Lions roaring? Or as many animals as possible all at once?!
