Yesterday, Angelo and I were watching TV and we saw the ad come on for the “Da Vinci Code” movie. It’s amazing to me how it’s become so fashionable to be able to trample on Christian beliefs… all in the name of “freedom of expression”.
A few months ago, a Danish newspaper came out with the cartoon that made fun of Islam. There was a tremendous backlash. The Denmark dairy industry is still suffering from the boycotts that resulted from the furor, not to mention, the violence and riots that resulted from the ruffled Muslims. Several International leaders, including our own, came out in condemnation against that cartoon. Don’t get me wrong, I will never condone violence for any reason but where are our leaders now?
How is it okay to say things against Jesus but you can’t do the same against most other religions? Why are believing in God and acknowledging this considered “uneducated” and “passé”? However, ridiculing other people’s faith is somehow considered okay? It’s a truly sad thing that nowadays following Christ and the Church is one of the most counter-cultural things we can do in our society.
