The picture above is SOOC. I used my son’s laptop screen (after I had cleaned it of its numerous finger prints) as the reflecting surface.
I played around with the image to try for a gritty effect… Here’s what I got… not sure if you can call it gritty… Maybe it was just not the right image to try for that effect.
We’re having a really big storm out here in the DC area. These pictures were taken this morning and it’s still snowing outisde. We did clear up a bit but it’s a real uphill task! They’re referring to it as a snowmageddon in some papers! School has been canceled through Tuesday.
The winter storm warning does not end until 10 pm this evening. Visibility outside is at a quarter to half mile. Probably will be a record setting event by the end of it all…. around 30″ of snow at the very least.
We actually lost power from 3 am this morning until 10:30 am. I was worried we would be without heat and rancid food until Monday but looks like they were able to fix the problem. At last check there were almost 200,000 houses without power… Heavy wet snow and breaking tree branches have been the culprits.
I did this in Photoshop. Duplicate layer in original image (I always work with copies) and convert the duplicate layer to monochrome with desaturate. Then I add a Hue & Saturation Adjustment Layer and colorize that. Adjust the hue, saturation and lightness to desired range. The create a clipping mask from this layer and erase the desired colors from the mask… hope that makes sense.
Nothing says “young romance” like flowers, a cute cuddly and a great book…. If I had added a bauble and chocolate, it would be all the cliche Valentine imagery in one, huh?
